Tracking A Mid-Week Front With A Storm Risk:

We are tracking a cold front that will move into the region Wednesday night into Thursday with numerous showers and even some thunderstorms.

Warm Wednesday Ahead:

Here at Tri-Cities Weather & Alert Crew, we are tracking a cold front that will move into the region Wednesday night into Thursday with numerous showers and even some thunderstorms. A significant spike in temperatures is expected on Wednesday ahead of the front. We will see clouds on the increase with the chance of a few showers, but any breaks of sun could spike temperatures well into the 70s across the region, with a few 80° readings possible further south and west.

Storm Risk Returns:

A few widely scattered showers and an isolated storm will be possible Wednesday, before showers and thunderstorms increase in coverage late Wednesday evening into the overnight hours. Take a look at the latest projected radar loop from the HRRR model; highlighting increasing activity as we go later into Wednesday and Wednesday night:

Marginal Severe Risk:

A few of these storms may be strong to severe, but the primary risk will be along the Cumberland Plateau and points west. Middle Tennessee, including as far east as the Plateau may see a few rotating storms with an isolated tornado risk.

The tornado risk looks pretty low in the Tri-Cities region, but some gusty winds are possible with downpours likely. Rain should clear by Thursday afternoon with slightly cooler conditions. Stay tuned for possible changes to the forecast on this storm system.
