Significant Blast of Cooler Air Arrives Next Week, Potential for Light Snow in Mountains?

Hello and welcome to our new website! We are tracking the first significant blast of cooler air so far this season. The Climate Prediction Center has highlighted the region in an 80-90% chance of below normal temperatures next week and into the weekend.

CPC 6-10 day temperature outlook

The normal high temperature for the Tri-Cities this time of the month is 70 degrees. The current forecast high temperatures for Tuesday are in the upper 40s to near 50 degrees. That is *at least* 20 degrees below normal temperatures! The mountains will be even cooler with highs in the low to mid 40s (highest elevations in the 30s!)

NWS blend of model temperatures – Tuesday afternoon

Frost and freeze conditions are looking likely across the region, with lows dropping near or below freezing in the Tri-Cities (20s mountains) Tuesday and Wednesday morning. Wind chills will be in the 20s! Brrr!!!

Wind chills Tuesday morning

There is a *chance* that the mountains could see some light snow showers or flurries on Tuesday. We are still 5 days out, so expect the potential for changes in the forecast. Amounts, if any, look very limited at this time.
